Ayurveda literally means “the science of life.” Originating in India 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world. The aim of Ayurveda is to promote optimal health and wellness by maintaining a balance between mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda approaches healing through balancing an individual’s doshas (energies circulating in the body) in order to bring them back to their natural constitution (prakruthi). Ayurveda helps to manage and treat health imbalances through herbs, diet and lifestyle, specialized Ayurvedic therapies, and yoga. The goal of Ayurveda is to re-establish harmony in an individual by taking into account their physical, mental and emotional state and creating a happy, healthy, and balanced person.
