Dr. Cox was born and raised in Southern California. He majored in Communication Studies at California State University, San Bernardino, with the intent on becoming a speech pathologist. Life took a turn and he ultimately went on to work for his parents’ business until relocating to Orange County in 1998. Not long after, he was working his way up the corporate ladder before the rungs broke out from under him and he was laid off. Stressed while surviving on his severance, he became a certified massage therapist and began working for a chiropractor. His employer, and subsequent mentor, convinced him to go back to school. Graduating from Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) in 2007, Dr. Cox started his own practice in Laguna Woods, eventually purchasing an existing practice in Laguna Beach. Treating patients of all ages, his philosophy is “use what works,” focusing mainly on diversified adjusting, due in large part to his mentor being a Palmer grad and SCU’s technique instructor. After seven years in private practice, Dr. Cox came back to SCU as a part-time 7th term clinician, while maintaining a full-time practice. Bit by the teaching bug, he realized his passion was not just healing, but helping others learn how to heal as well. In 2014, he was hired as a full-time clinician and quality assurance coordinator for SCU Health System. In addition to his clinic responsibilities, he is the lead instructor for introduction to clinic lecture for 6th term, preparing students to enter their first internship.
