Sport-Specific Training

Sport-specific training prepares athletes for their sport of choice. Whether a high school football running back wants to improve his speed and agility or a professional basketball player needs to stay in shape and enhance key skills in her off-season, SCU Human Performance’s sport-specific training programs help athletes of all levels meet their goals.

Best of all, our broad range of expertise and understanding of human performance means we can help bring out the champion in everyone—not just “traditional” athletes. There are no limits to who we can train—you just need the desire to be the best version of yourself.

What Makes Us Different

Individualized, sport-specific training – We design all of our training with an athlete’s particular sport, position, and needs in mind. A training session may include athletes from a variety of sports, but each individual athlete’s workout is designed specifically for them. We go beyond just sports-specific training by further customizing exercises based on an athlete’s goals, strengths, and weakness.

Periodic testing – Regardless of the program, all new athletes begin with testing for strength, power, flexibility, body composition, and sport-specific speed and agility. Periodic testing is scheduled throughout the calendar year to assess progress and performance, and modifications to workouts are made accordingly.

Whole-athlete approach – We recognize that all athletes benefit not only from attention to physical development, but also from the emphasis on the mental and moral aspects of athletics and life. Our coaching staff incorporates all of these aspects into our athletes’ training.

  • Linear and multi-directional speed

Year Round Sports Specific Training Formats

Team: Team training sessions are reserved for entire teams. There is a maximum athlete-to-coach ratio of 12 to 1. Team training not only develops individual athletes, but also fosters the spirit of teamwork and team building.

Group: In group training sessions, multiple athletes train in a group setting with a maximum athlete-to-coach ratio of 6 to 1. The groups may include athletes of the same or different sports. Although athletes are training in a group setting, each athlete has their own individualized workout for each session determined by their sport of choice, goals, and skill level. Athletes benefit from the friendly competition that arises among one another while training in the same session.

Individual: Individual training involves one-on-one sessions for athletes that desire maximum feedback and coaching attention.
