Ayurveda literally means “the science of life.” Originating in India, Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine dating back 5,000 years. The aim of Ayurveda is to protect health, prevent, and manage diseases by maintaining a balance between mind, body, and spirit and focusing on the natural biological make-up (prakruthi) of each individual person’s dosha. Ayurveda helps to manage and treat illness in a holistic manner with the help of herbs, diet and lifestyle guidelines, specialized ayurvedic therapies, and yoga. The goal is to re-establish harmony in an individual by taking into account the physical, mental, and emotional aspects and create a happy, healthy, and balanced person.
Ayurveda aims to prevent and manage diseases by establishing balance through nutrition, herbs, therapies, yoga and daily and seasonal routines. Your treatment plan could include one or several of these recommendations.
Your first Ayurveda session will begin with a consultation to determine your unique constitution (dosha) and your current state of imbalance. Your practitioner will ask you a series of questions regarding your lifestyle, preferences and diet, and will perform a physical examination to identify your dosha. Their assessment will also help formulate your treatment plan and guidelines.
Your practitioner will then provide you with nutritional and herbal recommendations, as well as lifestyle guidelines tailored to your specific dosha and condition. One or more specific ayurvedic therapies may also be advised and /or administered during your visit. The guidelines we provide and the therapies will help your body re-establish harmony and maintain balance tote healthier well-being.
